The humiliation of dressing as Freddie Mercury for the Propeller Club Stars in their Eyes gala. wasn’t totally for nothing. We did also manage to raise funds for the Nautilus Trust.
Sue Henney and Anneley Pickles headed along to the amazing Mariners Park in Wallasey to present a large cheque to Andrew Jones, and had a chance to look around the fantastic facilities.
Mariners’ Park is a unique place to live, where retired seafarers and their dependants can live alongside those who have also experienced a life at sea.
The 16 acre estate has immaculately-kept grounds with views of the River Mersey and the iconic Liverpool waterfront.
This retirement community contains 112 homes, comprised of one- or two-bedroomed houses, apartments and bungalows.
The grounds include a bowling green and walking routes to nearby New Brighton or Seacombe, where it’s possible to catch the ferry to Liverpool; as well as lots of benches for those who simply want to enjoy the scenery.
We are so proud to have been able to make the alchemy happen, changing the smiles and laughter of all you Propellerists who came along into some good for the residents in Wallasey. It’s a kind of magic…as I will never, ever mime on stage.
