Charitable organisation Merseyside Adventure Sail Training (MAST) has been celebrating 50 years of Sail Training this month. This culminated with a 2-day event across the weekend of 26-27 November. The anniversary celebration recognised how Sail Training has helped more than 10,000 people of all ages and backgrounds – including disabled and disadvantaged people – to develop life skills through the unique experience of crewing a Tall Ship.
Bibby Line Group MD Sir Michael Bibby opened the event on Saturday and events included a Memories and Memorabilia exhibition at the Merseyside Maritime Museum and tours of tall ship “Stavros S Niarchos”, berthed in Canning Half Tide Dock.
Saturday evening then saw High Sheriff James Davies welcome guests on board the Stavros for a keynote speech followed by a hot buffet on board the newly refurbished steam tug “Daniel Adamson”.
Congratulations to MAST – but so to, to Jim Graves who works so tirelessly to make so many wonderful things happen.
