Rowing the Length of the Mersey for Cancer Research UK

Thursday, 21st October

The wonderful chaps at Border Force West coast Ports Team are doing some amazing charity fundraising on 29/10/2021 on behalf of Cancer Research UK. They need your support to raise as much money as possible JUST GIVING LINK

Eight intrepid and willing’ish members of the Border Force West Coast Ports Team (namely Mark Mawdsley, Harry Garcia, Gary Williams, Simon Weaver, Martin Draper, Pete Lannon, Tony Smith and James Lumsden) are going to row the length of our very own River Mersey from source to mouth and back again (220km if you are wondering) on a rowing machine which in order log a time will need to have the machine’ flywheel kept in continual motion from start to the time we finish possibly 22+ hours later.

The team has been training hard for this as we are all fully aware how difficult the task at hand is going to be. They are doing all this in the hope of raising much-needed funds for Cancer Research UK the nominated Border Force for 2021. Cancer, unfortunately, affects us all in one way or another at some point in our lives so it’s vital that we continue the fight by raising funds in support of this life-saving research.

Good Luck and happy rowing!
