The Propeller Club Liverpool is proud to announce its formal commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, marking a significant milestone in our organisation’s history. This pledge reinforces our dedication to ensuring that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated with fairness and respect within our maritime community.
The pledge symbolises our recognition of the value that serving personnel, veterans, and military families contribute to our organisation and the wider maritime sector.
What Is the Armed Forces Covenant?
The Armed Forces Covenant represents a promise by the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives. The covenant focuses on helping members of the armed forces community have the same access to government and commercial services and products as any other citizen.
By signing this covenant, the Propeller Club Liverpool acknowledges the sacrifices made by serving personnel, veterans, and their families, and pledges to uphold the principles of the covenant in our policies, services, and operations.
Our Commitments
As signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant, the Propeller Club Liverpool has made several specific commitments:
We, The Propeller Club Liverpool, recognise the significant contributions that Service personnel, reservists, veterans, the cadet movement, and military families make to our organisation, the maritime industry, and society as a whole. To uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, we pledge to ensure that our maritime business and networking platform is a supportive and inclusive space for the Armed Forces Community. We will actively encourage engagement and opportunities for networking, mentoring, and professional development within the maritime sector.
Communications, Engagement, and Outreach:
We will publicise our commitments through our literature and on our website, clearly outlining how we aim to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant. In addition, we will actively encourage feedback from the Armed Forces Community, our members, and stakeholders to ensure we are continuously improving in our efforts.
At The Propeller Club Liverpool, we understand the power of networking in unlocking career opportunities and business growth. We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment where Service personnel, veterans, reservists, and military families feel valued and supported as they transition into or continue their careers in the maritime industry. By leveraging our extensive network, we will connect them with industry leaders, offer mentorship, and facilitate introductions that can lead to meaningful career advancement.
We believe in the strength of community and will make sure that all members of the Armed Forces Community are welcomed into our events and gatherings. Whether it is for business development, personal growth, or simply connecting with like-minded professionals, The Propeller Club will provide a platform where veterans and service personnel can build strong professional relationships and explore new opportunities within the maritime sector.
These commitments reflect our belief that the skills, experience, and dedication demonstrated by armed forces personnel are invaluable assets to our organisation and the maritime industry as a whole.
The Maritime-Military Connection
The maritime and military sectors have long shared a deep historical connection, particularly in Liverpool with its rich naval heritage. Many of the skills developed in military service—leadership, problem-solving, adaptability, and technical expertise—are directly transferable to maritime careers.
The signing of the Armed Forces Covenant aligns perfectly with our mission to support and develop the maritime community. We recognise the tremendous value that armed forces personnel bring to our industry, and we are committed to ensuring they have the support and opportunities they deserve as they transition to civilian life.
Looking Forward
This commitment marks just the beginning of an enhanced relationship between the Propeller Club Liverpool and the armed forces community. In the coming months, we will be developing specific initiatives designed to implement our covenant pledges, including networking events for veterans in the maritime sector, mentorship programs, and collaborative projects with military organisations.
We invite all members of the Propeller Club Liverpool to join us in embracing and supporting this important commitment. Together, we can create meaningful opportunities for those who have served our country and enhance the strength and diversity of our maritime community.
