The Cammell Laird shipyard has celebrated a massive landmark as the polar research ship, called the RRS David Attenborough, was launched into the Mersey.
This is the biggest civilian ship to be built in the UK for 30 years and special guests – including wildlife broadcasting legend Sir David Attenborough himself, as well as many Propeller Club Liverpool members saw the ship’s 10,000 tonne hull launched into the water for the first time.
It was such an intensely exciting and proud moment to see the yard, and our river resound with the splash of a major launch. Here’s to many more….and thanks to Sue Henney for her amazing video https://www.facebook.com/sue.henney/videos/10156722290408714/ and our roving photographer Al Disley for the image.
