Friday, 20th April
Members might be interested in the Nautical Institute, Conference 2018 – Future of Maritime Professionals – which is being held in the Novotel Bristol 20/21 April 2018
The conference will explore two distinct areas of current interest. The first, on Friday afternoon, looks at the effect of the regulatory environment on the work and well-being, of the seafarer. The primary focus will be on a review of the ISM Code, Safety Management System conflicts and the effect of competing regulatory regimes. We are pleased to have an excellent panel of speakers taking part in this discussion, including a senior manager from the Marine & Coastguard Agency.
On the Saturday morning we will concentrate on the mental wellbeing of seafarers but with the main focus being on issues of connectivity and social isolation, their effect on the wellbeing of seafarers, the help available from academic and voluntary organisations, and a major P&I insurer. Again we have been able to rely on an exceptional panel of speakers with significant industry expertise in seafarers’ wellbeing.
